1) What considerations led you to modify/change your original plan when you were in the process of developing your project?

My original idea was to base my painting off of one that Alexa Meade painted called    ‘The blue man’. I wanted to use peaches and blues but when I started painting my background I couldn’t get the colours to go together like she did, I ended up changing my color scheme to pale yellows, greens, teals, and blues because I was able to get them to work together better than before.

2) What evidence can be found in your portfolio (Instagram and website) of how the exploration and revision stages changed your original idea?

My first three-four paintings were made using pinks and reds then as the painting went on I started using yellow greens and pale blues, in the end I settled on teal after painting half of a friends face.

3) What emotions do you associate with the colours you picked for your design? How might other peoples associations of colour change the way they feel when looking at your work?

In my opinion, I didn’t think much of the colour scheme at first being associated an emotion but then one of the grades 7s thought I was crying because of the white highlights under my eyes. Thinking about it now since I am not smiling in any of the photos and since I choose blues I look very sad in the pictures. Since people usually associated blues with sadness I think they will agree with the main emotion being represented being sadness

4) What criteria would you use when selecting an artwork to present to your class? Would you use different criteria when selecting a work for a community art show? Why? What, if anything, would you do differently when creating your artwork if you knew it was going to be displayed in a public space? Why?

I would choose something with a white background because I think there is more contrast between me and the wall. I would choose the same piece to show the class and the community because I would want to find the best one out of all of them to show. I would try and do more than one colour and I would make a more prominent highlight on my cheeks. I would try doing clothes and painting my hair if this was to be presented to the public because it would look more finished and detailed

5) What are some techniques you used to create the effect of light in a painting?

I tried pretending there was a light source on one side of my face. Half way through I realized that my background had different shadows then my face.
