Reflection

During the school year, we experimented with numerous mediums and styles of art through different projects. My favourite project was the continuation of our ISU. I enjoyed this project the most because it had the least pressure and I was able to choose my project based on what I enjoyed. For the project, I painted on shorts and practiced working with paints. This project allowed me to practice painting on different surfaces and get a feel for the kind of painting style I enjoy the most.

I think the project that challenged me the most was the Micro-Macro painting. This project challenged me because I had to try matching my painting to the painting that already existed. Though it was challenging, through this project I was able to learn new techniques of painting that I would not have known otherwise. This project was also one of my favourites because of the warm colour scheme. This was also my proudest project. I worked the hardest on this piece, bringing it home, mixing new colours, and drawing different sketches. My hard worked paid on in this project, as it is one of my proudest and favourites.

My least favourite project was the hand sculpture at the beginning of the year. Though it was a fun project, the hand was supposed to represent me as a person. After seeing my hand after months, less than half of the symbols on my hand still have significant meaning. Maybe the project could be more interesting to me if every year I made a new hand and added the things that had meaning to me and see how I evolve over the years.

Next year I would like to practice watercolor painting. I used to really enjoy watercolor painting, but recently I think I have become really weak with the medium. Perhaps all I need is practice, which is why I am looking forward to practicing the medium in more detail.

Through art, I was able to recognize that things do not always go as planned and that it is ok. You just have to try your best to deal with the challenges you face. Maybe the challenge will work out in your favour.
