How did you make your piece ie: steps for photo transfer, collage, or painting etc...

I made my hand by making a cast on my hand using plaster of Paris and water. I decided to just use paint for my hand because I was never really a fan of collages and if I decided to use that on my hand then it wouldn't really be a great representation of me. I also didn't think I had enough quotes to do photo transfers. Paint just seemed like the right choice. 

 

 Explain your design; why did you choose the colours you used, why did you add certain quotes/lyrics etc.

My original design didn't have three main sections. My original plan had two sections, the personal section and a goofy side which had my house in Game of Thrones, House Glover. I added the extra blue part as another goofy side, it was for a musical I got really into this year called Dear Evan Hanson. The musical is no longer as big of a part of my life but I still love it very much and it seemed only right to add it to my hand. The light green part of my hand that is about me. On the fingers of my hand, I have three words that a friend said best represented me. The other weird line thing I have on my finger is a Viking rune meaning "grace". I am not the most graceful person but Grace is my middle name and my mom said that she chose the name because she had me by the grace of God, because of that is it a large part of who I am. The fancy dots I have on my wrist are braille for family. Family is one of the most important things to me and I got the idea to put this on my hand because it was a tattoo wanted to get when I was older. The last part is a song lyric my dad used to sing to me when I  was younger and he was trying to get me to go to bed. The song brings back a lot of happy memories and it was just a cute thing I wanted to include.

 

The Evolution and Reflection: Did your work evolve from your original plans? What areas are you happiest with and why? What areas did you struggle with and how did you overcome that challenge? If you had more time what might you add or touch up and why? 

My work changed for sure as the project went on but not in big ways. I added a section which I didn't have in my original plan and I added music notes which I also didn't have. I was happiest with my iron fist just because I like the way it looks. My favourite part because of how meaningful it is is the song lyric. The song means a lot to me because of the memories and also because my dad would sing it almost every day probably not even realizing that I was listening, its like he sang subconsciously. I didn't really face many struggles because I decided to do something I was very comfortable with. I did find it annoying to have such thick lines when I was trying to write words. I might add more to the personal side as well as add more to the musical section.
